God Provided the Way

When I was a junior in college, I was struggling to figure out what to do with my summer—and with my life. I had hoped to serve on my college ministry team, but when I received a rejection letter late in the spring, I felt devastated and uncertain about what God had in store. My friend reminded me, “God is going to provide; it might just be at the last minute.”

Shortly after, I found a flyer for ACMNP and applied on a whim, expecting another rejection. To my shock, I was accepted to serve on the Lake Yellowstone team. I was terrified—far from home, knowing no one, and carrying years of doubts, anxiety, and depression. After much prayer and counsel, I finally hit “Accept the Call.”

Driving to Yellowstone, I remember feeling fearful of the unknown. Halfway across South Dakota, I experienced an overwhelming sense of peace, a clear reminder that God was with me“I am with you. I am in you. You are in Me. There isn’t anything you will face that will separate you from Me.” That reassurance carried me the rest of the way.

Once I arrived, God provided a team of incredible coworkers and friends. That summer, I was challenged to do things I never imagined: whitewater rafting, climbing Electric Peak, preaching a sermon, having faithful conversations with others, and balancing adventure with work. Each time I stepped out of my comfort zone, my teammates encouraged me, and I grew in love with the Lord, His people, and His work.

After Yellowstone, I served a second season in the Tetons. Each season brought new challenges and adventures, and God planted a deep love for the West and the national parks in my heart. That love shaped my life choices: I moved to Idaho Falls near the parks, taught at a Christian school, served in ministry, and now, as a stay-at-home mom, I take my young sons to the parks whenever we can—instilling in them the values of faith, adventure, and worship in God’s creation.

ACMNP has made a lasting impact on my life. It helped me grow in courage and resilience and taught me the joy of stepping out in faith. Most of all, it showed me what it looks like to experience the abundant life Christ offers when we say yes to His leading. I’m deeply grateful for how God used those two seasons to guide my path.
