My summer in Big Bend offered so many great things, but if I had to pick the best part it would have to be being able to explore all the diverse areas of the park. At home and at school I am surrounded by beautiful mountains that I love, but Big Bend not only has mountains, but also deserts, hot springs, canyons, and rivers, which I did not expect.

I expected that most of our ministry here in the park would be through our worship services, but it turned out to be through our relationships with the employees here in the park.

I don’t believe moving to a national park for an entire summer is an easy transition for anyone, but I can say that I adjusted very easily because the park employees and my teammates were all very encouraging. Just come to the park without expectations and be ready to participate in whatever God has planned for you!
