It is hard to look at Mt. Rainier and not feel the boldness and power of God before you. However, the moment when I really felt God that summer was on the foggy, cold, and rainy days when one couldn’t see the mountain.

Those days were some of my favorite ones—knowing that this huge mountain that has power and abilities to shape this world was there, and yet one could not see it.

It was kind of like God—all-powerful, almighty, and yet we are never able to see the face of God and live, scripture tells us.

Now I have seen Mt. Rainier, and live to tell the tale, but that’s besides the point—not seeing the mountain but knowing it is there and the strength it holds, was when I encountered God this summer.
