Hike on the Appalachian Trail

Have you ever thought about hiking the AT but aren’t quite sure how or don’t feel like you have the time? Then, this trip is for you! Join us October 8-13, 2025 as we embark on an introductory Applachian Trail backpacking trip through Maryland and into West Virginia.  We’ll begin in Cambridge, MD, and then meander along 41.7 miles of the Appalachian Trail to Ferrysburg, WV. The terrain in this area is appropriate for an entry-level trip, so this will be a perfect first section for you to try. You will need backpacking gear for the trip (see packing list below) as well as meals for the trail. The cost to join is $195.

Itinerary:

Day 1: October 8, 2025 – Arrive at Sunflower Hostel, Cascade MD (Orientation and Leadership Development)

Day 2: October 9, 2025 – Drive to Pen Mar Co Pk., hike to Ensign Cowall Shelter (10 miles)

Day 3: October 10, 2025 – Hike to Rocky Run Shelter (15.7 miles)

Day 4: October 11, 2025 – Hike to Ed Garvey Shelter (9.1 miles)

Day 5: October 12, 2025 – Hike to Harpers Ferry Hostel, 1/2 day service project (6.9 miles)

Day 6: October 13, 2025 – Depart
